Why memes use Impact font with white text and a black outline
The classic meme caption — bold white text outlined in black, all-caps Impact — became standard because it stays legible on top of any image: light or dark, busy or flat. The black stroke separates the letters from the background; the all-caps Impact maximizes letter weight per pixel.
